Phoenix Commercial Properties Named 2023 Lease of the Year CoStar Impact Award Winner

Winners were selected by a panel of more than 750 esteemed industry professionals across 128 markets at the second annual commercial real estate awards.

April 3, 2023 – Phoenix Commercial Properties today was named the 2023 Lease of the Year CoStar Impact Award winner in the Raleigh/Durham market. Winners—chosen for their growth, diversification, and ability to overcome unique challenges in their particular markets—were selected from a panel of more than 750 industry professionals drawn from each respective market.

The 135,000 square-foot spec building at 101 E. Providence Blvd in the Eastfield Business Park was leased to Do Good Foods,  a revolutionary climate-forward company that upcycles surplus grocery store food into nutrient-dense animal feed. Do Good Foods said they plan on investing more than $100 million into the new facility.

Once the full buildout is complete, the facility will employ approximately 100 workers in job roles that average more than $60,000 annually.

John Powell, Thomas Goodwin, and Mike Wilen of Phoenix Commercial represented the Landlord, AdVenture Development, in the 20-year lease. CBRE represented the Tenant.

“This is a tremendous honor to be recognized as the ‘The Lease of the Year,’ and obviously, a number of individuals were involved who helped to create the opportunity. We’re so excited to have 100+ jobs coming to Johnston County and look forward to watching the long-term positive impact on the Community,” said John Powell, President of Phoenix Commercial Properties.

The CoStar Impact Awards recognize exemplary commercial real estate transactions and projects completed in 2022 that have significantly influenced neighborhoods or submarkets across 128 major international markets in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Now in its second year, the awards honored over 400 winners for their CRE transactions across five categories: Lease of the Year, Sale/Acquisition of the Year, Commercial Development of the Year, Multifamily Development of the Year, and Redevelopment of the Year.

“We’re grateful for the chance to recognize the accomplishments of noteworthy real estate projects and transactions across the industry,” said Andy Florance, Founder, and Chief Executive Officer of CoStar Group. “As the industry continues to evolve, real estate professionals have adapted and contributed immensely to the neighborhoods they serve through innovative projects and community-driven initiatives.”
